Okay, so one of my absolute favorite things about Fall is getting to dress in layers. To me, adding layers to your outfit somehow feels like you’re giving it more character.

I love investing in layers, too, because it allows you to create so many different looks with just one piece! I mean think about all the options you have with a black leather jacket – you can layer it over a dress, over a white tee and distressed denim, or over black leggings and a colorful top.

My one piece of advice when investing in pieces to layer is to stick with solid, neutral colors. Black, gray, white, and nude are all colors that are easy to layer over almost anything. Sticking with these colors will allow you to layer over other solid colors, bold patterns, and varied fabrics.

I recently went to Anthropologie on a mission to find this grey duster, but when I spotted this wool vest I simply couldn’t resist. The fabric is lightweight, which makes it perfect to layer in the warmer days of Fall and the length is right on trend for Fall. I mean, how many long vests have you seen lately? A ton.

I tend to gravitate to more feminine looks, so I layered this vest over a black dress and paired it with flats (heels are out the window for now with a newborn and toddler in tow). However, I plan on layering it over a green plaid shirt for Baylor Homecoming and over a black top and black leggings for a more sophisticated date night look.
