Do you ever wish you could sneak away for a couple of days with your girlfriends to shop, eat good food, drink wine, and just relax? I’m not sure I know a single woman that would answer that with a “no.” I for one know that little getaways every once in awhile are just good for the soul. They allow you to reenergize and be a better version of you at work, at home, and with your friends.
Well, a couple of weeks ago I had the privilege of attending a girls retreat at The Souther Chic Retreat in McKinney, TX. For those of you that don’t live in Dallas or aren’t familiar with McKinney, TX, its a city just north of Dallas and it is so incredibly cute! It has the most adorable town square full of boutiques, great food, and of course little wine shops. During our stay at The Southern Chic Retreat we not only got a taste of this quaint little city, but we got to enjoy everything this sweet retreat has to offer with some amazing women including Becca of We Are Collin County and Ashley of Southern Chic Style.
Accommodation-wise, The Southern Chic Retreat is just what you would envision for a girls trip! It has several rooms to choose from – each with a cute name like “Two Hoots and a Hollar,” a living area, a large kitchen, and a large dining area. If you stop reading right here then The Southern Chic Retreat sounds a bit like every other B&B out there, but here’s what makes it different – The Southern Chic Retreat also has a huge craft room with anything and everything you could want to create your craft.
Additionally, it has an outdoor movie area, and my favorite- you can customize your dining experience. Yep, you heard me correctly. If you don’t feel like cooking for yourself and don’t feel like dining in town, you can utilize their Chef service and create for any or every meal. We got to experience this first hand and let me tell you, it’s amazing! The Chef’s team actually prepares, plates, and cleans up your entire meal. Literally zero work on your end and yet you get to eat a fabulous meal!
So what did our fabulous getaway look like? Well, we all arrived midday on a Friday and were greeted by small apps and took a tour of the retreat. The living room was by far my favorite space (pictured below) and was such a great place to hang and get to know the other women better!
Next, we headed to downtown McKinney (only a couple blocks walk) and stopped in Landon Winery for a glass of rose. And yes, the rose was SO good. I ended up going back to buy a bottle… After a glass of wine, we ate a late lunch at Cadillac Pizza Pub and then walked around the town square and shopped in all the precious boutiques. My favorite clothing boutique was Landry Kate.
After that we headed back to the SCR and had a gourmet meal prepared for us followed by a fun craft and a late night movie on the lawn. It was truly a fabulous evening!
The next morning we woke up, enjoyed some home-made smoothies, and then headed out to the back lawn for sunrise yoga. Then, we had another fabulous meal, made some finishing touches on our craft, and headed home. I am so grateful for the hostess, Monica’s, incredible hospitality and for introducing me to this gem of a retreat. I have already talked to the women in my family about making a girls trip this Summer or Fall for a little getaway from the craziness of life!
